New Year's Promise to Myself

2009 will be the year . . .

. . .I finish the Chicago Marathon. (I can't change the blog title to "My Fourth First Marathon." Besides a tongue twister, it's pathetic.)

. . .I will lose the "baby" weight. (My youngest "baby" turns 5 in April)

. . .I will properly cross train (Taking steps toward this already, meeting with personal trainer)

As a result . . .

. . .I will meet my goal of finishing the Marathon before I'm 40 (Oct 2010)

. . .I will not cringe at the sight of me in family photos that will be taken during our June vacation

. . .I will be able to buy a dress for our niece's summer wedding because I like it, versus buying one because it hides and covers the best.

I know reading this you may think that New Year's resolutions are often broken. Not this time. I'm too fed up with myself.

Now if I can just get building maintenance to move that vending machine further away from my office . . .

I am fed up with you too, Jen! lol

I don't think these goals are out of reach. You are going to do great. And if you don't, I am sure I will have some sort of witty comment that will not only make you laugh but will make you wonder if I am also making fun of you.

Jen, I'm planning on Chicago 2009 as my "rematch" from 2007. Good luck to both of us LOL. :-)

Oh Jenn, when I first looked at the title of your blog, i just smiled. You have such a great sense of humor. I promise you, we blogging friends will not let you rename it again, even if we have to come out to chicago and literally pull you through the whole marathon (oh, and my sister lives about 90 minutes from Chicago so I could reall do it ha ha ha....)

:-)

There's a half in Chicago in June? I could do that. But, back to you....I love the new blog title, and I also love your determination. You will be my inspiration. I too, have to get out of the funk - at least you have a trainer. Time to get off my butt (literally) and get moving. Not sure on the marathon in '09, but I'm in for a few halves for sure. Keep up the good work, girl, I'll be checking in frequently!

Great goals, and they look realistic to me. I'm going to have to check out the new June half in Chicago. If I can avoid hauling out to the North Shore Half, that would be great. It's a pretty course, but it's a looong drive.
