Ow

Walked around the office today like Frankenstein as a result of Sunday's 10 miler. Everyone in my department knows that 1) I ran 10 miles on Sunday 2) I got up earlier than dawn to do it and 3) I hurt. They know this because I talked/complained about it all day.

If I'm like this at 10 miles, wonder what I'm going to feel like after the Half on Sunday. Or the Marathon in October.

I dont know if this is your first or not...as I just started reading your blog...but heres what helped me...after each longer run AND ESPECIALLY after the 1/2 and the full (ESPECIALLY the full) DRINK SO MUCH WATER THAT YOU CANT STAND IT..

it will help with the soreness..i didnt do that after my first full marathon..hardly drank any water, only beer...and well needless to say when i went to get out of bed the next morning, my legs collapsed from the pain...

also take like 3 motrin, and eat protein within 1-2 hours after...it all should help!!!

Good luck on the half! I read somewhere that running too fast really causes some soreness after a long r un. Thus I took my pace down on my last 12 miler (just a tad) and it really helped. Otherwise I'm usually sore for a couple of days.

Something tells me that the body is supposed to be pretty sore if you run ten or more miles. Good luck on your half this weekend!!

No pain, no gain, right? hee, sorry. I think that's why I didn't run last week cuz I felt like crap after my 12er.

As it turns out, I won't be volunteering for ACS on Sunday (sitter issues). So, good luck and let us know how you do. The good news is the weather is going to be great!

what's the point of training for a marathon if you can;t tell anyone with at least one working ear all about the LONG miles and the HEAT and ACHINESS of it all.

Seriously? Even if I was hobbling around like a 90-year-old amputee, I would tell people about my mileage.

You've earned that right. Now take some advil, have an ice bath and get ready to do it all over again!

You and me both, chica! I'm planning on scheduling a massage for the day after my marathon.
